CERTIFICATE OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE (PEI)

The Certificate of Professional Competence (PEI) concerns the updating and deepening of the knowledge of Professional Drivers on modern transport issues with the aim of ensuring the quality of the driver of goods and passenger vehicles both during access to the profession and during exercising the driver's activity. Through P.E.I. rational and defensive driving is promoted which is expected to bring multiple benefits in terms of fuel savings and reduction of accidents.

Possession of P.E.I. certified by the code "095" which is written on the back driver's license next to the corresponding one category which it concerns.

TRUCK DRIVE C - Category C driving licences
issued AFTER 10/09/2009

For the issuance of the Certificate of Professional Competence (PEI) of initial training, the driver's examination at a theoretical and practical level is required, which is planned and carried out by the Transport and Communications Services of the Regional Units of the Country.
The theoretical exam is done electronically through the P.E.I. Computerized Theoretical Exam System. and includes 2 tests which include multiple choice questions in which the driver must answer at least 36 out of 60 questions correctly in 150 minutes and 2 case studies in which the driver must score at least 24 points out of 40 full development of both subjects is graded. The exam duration for the 2nd test is 90 minutes.
Those who pass the theory test are scheduled by Transport and Communications Services for a practical test which consists of a 30-minute oral test and a 90-minute driving test.

For the issuance of the P.E.I. periodical driver's license training category C that were issued BEFORE 10/09/2009 the candidate is required to attend theoretical courses lasting 35 hours.

BUS DRIVE D- Class D driving licenses issued AFTER 10/09/2008

Exceptions to issuing P.E.I. Exceptions apply to vehicles:

Whose maximum permitted speed does not exceed 45 km/h.
Which belongs to the Armed Forces and the Security Forces (Police, Fire Brigade, Coast Guard).
Which does not belong to the Armed Forces and Security Forces (Police, Fire brigade, Coast Guard), but is used by them with any status.
Which serves the needs of the country's Civil Defense or the Emergency Planning Policy (EPP).
Which is subjected to road tests, for the purposes of technical improvement, repair or maintenance and of a new or converted or modified vehicle, which has not yet been put into circulation.
Which is used in an emergency situation or for rescue work.
Which is used for car driving lessons, with the aim of obtaining a driver's license or PEI (as provided for in PD 74/2008).
Which is used for private purposes, which are not considered commercial transport of passengers or goods.
Which transports material or equipment, which is to be used for the exercise of its driver's profession and driving this vehicle is not the driver's main activity.
Which transports materials, tools and equipment for the service of the truck owner's profession.
Which is granted to a transport company, transport agency for the transport exclusively of packaging materials belonging to it. which belongs to a roadside assistance company.
Which belongs to a Non-profit Organization or Foundation, to an airline company, to an industrial company, to a public works contracting company, to a mining or medal operating company, to a hot spring and casino operating company, to a motion picture production company, to an agricultural cooperative, to a Legal Entity & business of Law 2218/94, in an Association of Municipalities or Communities, in an NPDD, in an institution, in a Legal Entity and Association whose task is the care and treatment of the disabled and in an ecclesiastical monastery, given that it is for private use of the vehicle and not there is a commercial nature of the transport.
